ENTREPRENEURSHIP + WILL – THE STORY OF DEEP RESURRECTION
In my story, I want to share my experience, when we have almost resurrected the company as Fenix from the ash. Now the company is stable, but I want to reveal the history of our path, how it has happened that we move our clients pool from 100% in Polish Education market to 80% of clients from Germany when our revenue increased from 500 000 EUR annually in 2016 to 2 mln EUR this year. During this process, we had a really tough time when we almost lost our faith that it would be possible to keep the company running. Our story got public attention and we were invited to the biggest tech conference in Poland, but I feel that our story is only interesting for entrepreneurs who know how hard decisions people have to made and how many difficulties they have on their path. My story is also about transparency, values, cultural aspects. Thank to that it was possible to let 50% of staff go without their bad mood. We found another employment elsewhere for them or we expanded their notice period for a smooth transition. Every one of our employees was fully aware of the situation. Until now we continue keeping a relationship with them and we meet them regularly. We are also looking for new projects for them to invite them back to vm.pl again in the future. I think we mostly succeeded to handle a difficult situation because we run our company in a specific way. We treat all people mature and helping them to have an impact on the company. I want to talk about why we created our culture this way, what are our values and why. I will illustrate what impact these cultural elements have on our business. In follow up exercise I will facilitate deep dive into how to kick off a discussion about values in your organization and how to think about it.
